BEREC guidelines - background
In November 2015, the European Regulation on net neutrality was adopted which obliges the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communication (BEREC) to issue guidelines by 30 August 2016 in order to contribute to a consistent application of the Regulation. These guidelines were finalised by BEREC; RTR was actively involved in the process.
At the end of February, a workshop with leading experts was held in Rotterdam during the first BEREC Plenary Meeting 2016, where a first discussion on the guideline’s key issues took place. Information on the workshop and other topics discussed during the first Plenary Meeting can be found here: 26th Plenary Meeting.
The draft BEREC-guidelines were presented during a press conference on June 6th, 2016.
From June 6th, 2016 until July 18th, 2016 the draft BEREC-guidelines were consulted. Alltogether BEREC received 481.547 comments. A summary of the comments on the consultation is available in the consultation report. On 30 August 2016, the guidelines were presented during a press conference in Brussels.
Updated guidelines were published on 16 June 2020.
