Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications
The Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs-GmbH, RTR), established pursuant to Art. 16 of the KommAustria Act (KOG), became the legal successor of the former Telekom-Control GmbH as of 1 April 2001. RTR is responsible for the management of the Telekom-Control-Kommission (TKK).
When supervising the compliance with the provisions of the eIDAS Regulation, the TKK operates through RTR as supervisory body.
The activities of RTR include verifying the conformity assessment reports submitted by the trust service providers (TSPs), conducting, under a mandate by the TKK, further investigations (e.g. inspections of a TSP’s facilities) and reporting to the TKK on these activities.
RTR is specifically mandated with maintaining the trusted list of TSPs under supervision and with providing a free online service for validating qualified electronic signatures and qualified electronic seals.
Further information on supervisory activities can be viewed under supervisory body documents and in the Communications Reports published annually. Further information on the structure and responsibilities of the TKK and of RTR can be viewed under the section About RTR.
