2100 MHz TDD Spectrum

The figure below provides an overview of the unpaired 2100 MHz frequency band (TDD):

overview 2100 MHz unpaired

TDD: 35 MHz of unpaired spectrum:

  • 1900 - 1920 MHz (LTE band 33)
  • 2010 - 2025 MHz (LTE band 34)

The following figure show the curernt allocation in both 2,1 GHz TDD bands:

usage 2100 MHz unpaired

Although the unpaired spectrum was allocated in 2000 there is still no foreseeable use. The planned UMTS TDD standard was never implemented and later not further developed. The band from 2010.5 to 2019.9 MHz was originally planned for unlicensed use (similar to the DECT band). On an European level there is an ongoing discussion on how this band could be reasonably used in the future. The subband 2015-2025 MHz will presumably be used for video PMSE.

Der Bereich 2010-2025 MHz wird voraussichtlich für Funkkameras (video PMSE) gewidmet.

The European Commission has issued a mandate to CEPT regarding this band. Currently there is an ongoing consultation of a report which was developed by CEPT in response to this mandate (CEPT report 52, see downloads).

With amendment of the spectrum utilization ordinance in December 2016 this frequency was no longer declared as "scrace", thus this band is no longer awarded by the regulatory authority. The existing mobile licenses for this band will expire by Dec 31, 2020.
