1800 MHz (2001) Spectrum
In May 2000, the regulatory authority auctioned off 8 frequency packages from the range designated for public digital GSM 1800 cellular mobile communications systems under the Austrian Frequency Utilization Ordinance (Federal Law Gazette II No. 364/1998). The table below shows the channel numbers assigned to the frequency packages. The frequency channels and assigned frequency bands correspond to the Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Numbers (ARFCNs) for DCS 1800 as specified in the ETSI document GSM 05.05 (EN 300 910), "Digital cellular telecommunications system (Phase 2+); Radio transmission and reception", Chapter 2: "Frequency bands and channel arrangement".
Guard channels were inserted between Packages 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, 6 and 7 as well as 7 and 8. These guard channels were not allocated if different applicants acquired adjacent packages in the course of the auction. Applicants who acquired adjacent frequency packages were also allocated the guard channel between those packages.
