Telekom-Control Commission starts Frequency Allocation Procedure for Regional GSM-1800 Packages

In its meeting on December 20, 2000, the Telekom-Control Commission approved the opening of the frequency allocation procedure in the GSM-1800 range. Eight frequency packages totaling 2x21.2 MHz will be allocated in the course of the auction.

The tender submission period begins on December 22, 2000, the date of publication in the Wiener Zeitung newspaper, and the application documents can be downloaded from the TKC web site. All national and international network operators, especially the existing 2G and 3G licensees in Austria, are invited to submit applications.

Once the two-month tender submission period has passed (deadline: February 26, 2001), the applications received will be reviewed to determine the applicants’ eligibility under § 15 Par. 2 of the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG).

In the second stage (planned for late April/May), the frequency packages will be auctioned off.
