TKK discontinues allocation procedure for frequencies in 450 MHz band

Press release dated 23 October 2008

In its session on October 13, 2008, the Telekom-Control Commission (TKK) discontinued the allocation procedure for frequencies in the 450 MHz band. The frequencies were originally allocated to Green Network and T-Mobile in April 2006. The new allocation procedure was launched in early 2008 after those companies had relinquished their rights to use the frequencies in February 2008.

The tender submission period for the new allocation procedure ended on October 10, but no applications for frequency allocation had been received as of that date. In its session on October 13, 2008, the Telekom-Control Commission therefore decided to discontinue the procedure for lack of applications.

In the procedure, the regulatory authority had planned to auction off one frequency packet which can be used to provide mobile communications services or broadband services. The minimum bid was set at EUR 350,000.000.
