Historical drama filmed at the Seebenstein Castle The third part of the novel series’ film adaptation “Das Vermächtnis der Wanderhure” with Alexandra Neldel in the leading role is the moving story of the former travelling whore Marie. The historical drama is set at the beginning of the 15th century and was shot, among other places, at the Seebenstein Castle in Lower Austria. The former travelling prostitute Marie expects her second child when her husband Michel is dubbed a knight by the king. Michel’s oath of allegiance obliges him to follow the king to the impending war against the Tatars. Despite the oncoming birth, Michel leaves Marie, burdened with a heavy conscience. Meanwhile, the king’s power-hungry mistress, Hulda, hatches a devilish plot: she kidnaps Marie and takes her new-born son, presenting him to the king as her own child and hence as the rightful heir to the throne. Moreover, Hulda has formed an alliance with the enemy. With the help of the Tatar prince’s foster-son, she plans to overthrow the king and to reign as the king’s mother. Marie’s only way of seeing her son again is by winning the grace of her enemies.
