Telekom Control Commission allocates 3.5 GHz frequencies for EUR 140,860.00

On August 31, 2009, the Telekom-Control Commission (TKK) completed the allocation procedure for frequencies in the 3.5 GHz range by issuing official decisions to award one frequency package in each of eight regions of Austria. The frequencies have been allocated for a limited period ending on December 31, 2019. The following companies took part in the frequency auction required under Austrian law: 

  • EVN Netz GmbH

  • B.net Burgenland Telekom GmbH

  • 4G Mobile GmbH

  • Salzburg AG für Energie Verkehr und Telekommunikation.

The results of the auction were as follows:

  • EVN Netz acquired the frequency package covering Lower Austria and Vienna for EUR 34,400.00.
  • B.net Burgenland purchased the frequency package for the Burgenland province for EUR 10,200.00.
  • 4G Mobile GmbH was awarded the packages for the provinces of Styria, Carinthia, Tyrol and Upper Austria for EUR 83,800.00.
  • Salzburg AG für Verkehr und Telekommunikation acquired the frequency package for Salzburg for EUR 12,460.00.

The proceeds from the auction, which total EUR 140,860.00, will go to the federal government of the Republic of Austria.  

Frequencies in the 3.5 GHz band serve the purpose of establishing digital broadband wireless access systems and are intended for the connection of retail customers in the provision of public communications services.
