RTR-GmbH: Sonstige Konsultationen

Konsultationsdokument
Subject:Consultation on Future Frequency Awards
Date:10. 03. 2016

In the summer of 2015 the Austrian federal government decided to make the 700 MHz band available for mobile telecommunications from the beginning of 2020. The usage rights for the 2100 Mhz band expire at the end of 2020, and for the 3400-3600 MHz band at the end of 2019. Moreover, the bands 3600-3800 MHz, 1500 MHz and 2300 MHz have been identified at European level as harmonised ECS bands. Consequently we can expect award procedures in the short and medium term.

The BMVIT and the regulatory authority (RTR) wish to collect important ideas and suggestions on the upcoming awards and discuss possible approaches during this consultation. With it, the BMVIT and the regulatory authority are addressing in particular current mobile network operators, regional wireless broadband providers, possible new entrants, manufacturers and the interested public.

An English translation of the consultation document is available for download below.

The consultation period, originally expiring on 5 May, has been extended. The extended consultation period ends on 20 May 2016.

20 December 2016 – Spectrum Release Plan

In order to facilitate planning for market participants, the Regulatory Authority has developed – in cooperation with the Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology – the following rough schedule for spectrum allocations (Spectrum Release Plan). The schedule is legally non-binding; it reflects the authorities' current assessment of future spectrum allocations. It is not to be regarded as a precedent regarding possible future decisions by TKK deviating from the current assessment.
